Abel Tasman National Park

Te Pukatea Bay

It’s no wonder the Abel Tasman is the most visited of New Zealand’s many national parks. The combination of benign weather, glorious golden sand beaches, secluded bays and luxuriant bush ensures that the coastal track is much travelled.

Naturally this is an area of much interest to trailer yacht sailors as well with excellent sailing conditions and sheltered lagoons making it an easy choice for family holidays. Many of us just keep going back year after year.

Despite the numbers of trampers and day walkers it never feels crowded and there are always places to go that are off the beaten track when you have a trailer yacht.

There is a cruising guide in preparation for members so watch this space. In the meantime here are some photos to whet your appetite.

Abel Tasman Panoramas

Some times to get a feel for a place you need that really wide view. I like doing panoramas so here’s a few. Once the image has loaded click the “full size” icon at the bottom of the screen and use the scrollbar.
