Did you have any problems with the screws holding the skeg flaps causing leaks. A local boat builder claims the skeg is very thin and is prone to leaking if you screw the flaps on.

BOOTM2 - I had my keel out to refit the lockdown rope last year. I ovehauled the keel, and repaired a crack in the top of the centre-case while I was at it. I have a photo which might help. e-mail me if you like, owen1suzy@gmail.com
Cheers

I have a Farr 7500, Pascali, and over the holiday period at d'Urville Island the lockdown rope came away with a rusty end pulling out of the hole. As with MCMILW2 above I wondered if it was working before it broke and not knowing the system I have read all the above and am unsure which boats are 5's, 6's or 7.5's. Has someone got a picture/diagram they can post of how this works and what I need to do to replace the lock down rope. The keel lower/lift wire looks in good condition. I suspect that over winter I will need to remove the keel (because of the rust evidence) and any further advice will be most welcome especially if it comes with pictures of the process for a 7500.

I,ve found one of my pulley's completely jammed. After trying to get some movement in it with a hammer and a wooden block I gave up and left it over the xmas holiday with some oil on it. After 2 weeks gave it another go and.... yes all smooth again!

Could someone tell me how the lock down rope/shock cord system works after the rope which is attached to the keel goes up through the pully under the keel winch. I see from Farr beyond that the rope goes out to the side, but from then? What size of rope is used. I have just brought a F6 and this feature is not set up. I have removed the keel to recondition it and will be replacing the rope.
Thanks Ian

As a first time owner of a Farr 7.5 and not yet been on the water, this all sounds a little scarey to me. Can someone tell me if my boat has one of these lockdown devices and if so, how can I be sure it is working.
Thanks. Wayne

Downloaded and printed the Owners Manual and at last I find the correct position for the shrouds. The upper shrouds go in the aft hole in the chainplates. In Oz some boats have the upper shroud in the Forwd hole and some the aft. Our boat has not been rigged since Easter so I cannot rememberhow ours was set up.
