Location: Port Chalmers Yacht Club – Dunedin Otago
Link out: Click here
Description: Port Chalmers Yacht Club will be hosting the Farr NZ Championships on 15th and 16th February 2014.

Start Date: 2014-02-15
End Date: 2014-02-16

We would welcome all Farr owners in New Zealand to attend the OYA Festival Regatta which is incorporating the Farr NZ Championships 2014. If we had the numbers, it would be great to see multiple classes of Farr’s racing! At the moment there is a strong representation of Farr 6000’s from Dunedin. We also welcome anyone to crew on competing yachts. The Farr Association is offering travel assistance if required and we are happy to help with hosted accommodation if required.

Administrators: Russell Phillips and Alan Sutherland in conjunction with the Farr Association.

  • Racing will be held on the lower Otago Harbour in Portobello basin area.
  • This racing will be held in conjunction with the OYA Festival Regatta.
  • Two races on Saturday and two races on Sunday. ( All four count )
  • Minimum of two races must be sailed for the Farr NZ Champs to get a result.
  • Five Farr’s of the same class must be entered to constitute entry into the 2014 Farr NZ Championships.
  • Notice of Race will be included with Festival Regatta racing information. Details of which will be posted below in the notice section.

  • Fee: There would be no separate entry fee for the Farr NZ Championships but everyone would be required to pay Port Chalmers Yacht Club for entry to the Festival regatta. This is likely to be about $25 per yacht.
  • Registration: Late registrations will be taken but we would appriciate you registering as soon as possible to allow for numbers.

  • There will be a separate prize presentation for the Farr NZ Championships after racing on Sunday.
  • All yachts that enter in the Festival Regatta will be allegeable for prizes in this event.

  • There will be no measuring of yachts before racing but anyone has the right to protest any yacht that they believe does not comply with the Farr Association Rules. Failure to comply would disqualify them from that race.

  • There is most likely going to be a BBQ on Saturday with a bigger spread on Sunday before prize giving.

Racing at Port Chalmers will include centre board, Trailer Yachts and Keelers on the same area of the harbour. It will be busy on the water! It is likely to be a lot of fun and Port Yacht Club are great hosts so any visitors will be well looked after. It has been a couple of years since the Farr Nationals which were held in Dunedin.
